Mode in Blooi - Rijksmuseum Juni 2015

Flowers have always been and still are a beloved motif in fashion. Since time immemorial, they have symbolized new life, fertility and ephemeral beauty. The Rijksmuseum’s Fashion in Bloom exhibition showcased a colourful range of flowers on garments and accessories from the period from 1750 to 1940. I was asked to add a modern touch to the exhibition by creating two pieces of haute couture fashion in which I incorporated elements from the pieces in the Rijksmuseum collection. Marlies Dekkers was the guest curator of the exhibition.
